Educational updates in Germany: School rankings and holiday schedules
A recent ranking by the portal Schulen.de has identified the top-performing Gymnasium in Bavaria. The St. Stephan Gymnasium in Augsburg secured the first place in the 'Allrounder' category, receiving top marks for its MINT (STEM) offerings, digital school status, German, social sciences, and arts. The Johann-Michael-Sailer-Gymnasium in Dillingen an der Donau also performed strongly, ranking ninth in the state-wide comparison of 452 schools.
In Baden-Württemberg, the school holiday schedule for 2026 has been outlined. The state does not observe official winter holidays, instead distributing breaks across Easter, Pentecost, summer, autumn, and Christmas. Notable dates for 2026 include Easter holidays from March 30 to April 11, Pentecost holidays from May 26 to June 5, and summer holidays spanning from July 30 to September 12.
Additionally, the Städtisches Gymnasium Steinheim held a 'FAIRplayday' for its fifth-grade students. Organized by student mediators known as 'FAIRmittlern', the event focused on fostering community, conflict resolution through 'I-messages', and preventing bullying and social exclusion.
