Educators face allegations of sexual misconduct in Malaysia and Indonesia
Multiple reports have emerged regarding allegations of sexual misconduct involving educators in Malaysia and Indonesia.
In Malaysia, Muhamad Shazali T. Sharipudin, a 42-year-old preschool teacher, pleaded not guilty in a Seremban Sessions Court to two charges of physical sexual assault against an eight-year-old boy. The alleged incidents occurred in April at a national school in the Rembau district. The court granted bail at RM8,000 with specific conditions, including a prohibition on contacting the victim and the surrender of his international passport.
Separately, a staff member at a Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) higher education institution has been suspended following a student's complaint of sexual molestation. Mara Chairman Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki stated that the suspension was a standard procedural step to ensure an unhindered investigation and emphasized that no compromise would be made regarding misconduct.
In Indonesia, five parents in Tanjungpinang have reported a junior high school teacher to the police following allegations of sexual harassment against five students. The local Education Office has deactivated the teacher, identified by the initial R, while authorities proceed with the investigation.
