BRVM and Indian stock markets show divergent trends
The West African regional stock market, BRVM, experienced a general decline on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Major indices including the BRVM Composite, BRVM-30, and BRVM-Prestige all closed in negative territory. The market capitalization of equities fell by approximately 113.5 billion FCFA. While most sectors faced selling pressure, the Energy and Telecommunications sectors were notable exceptions, posting gains.
In contrast, Indian equity markets staged a recovery on Wednesday. The BSE Sensex rose by approximately 0.45% to 74,336.45 points, and the Nifty 50 increased by 0.43% to 23,217.60. This upward movement was supported by buying interest in the FMCG, banking, and realty sectors, alongside easing crude oil prices and investor anticipation regarding the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decisions.
