Edward Brown charged with rape at Martha’s Vineyard State Police barracks

Edward Brown, a 27-year-old assistant security director at Boston Latin Academy, has pleaded not guilty to charges of raping a woman at a Massachusetts State Police barracks on Martha’s Vineyard. Brown was arraigned on October 13 and released on bond following his arrest on October 9.

The alleged incident occurred on August 15. According to the Cape and Island District Attorney’s Office, the victim met Brown at a local bar before losing consciousness. She reported waking up naked in an unfamiliar location where she was subsequently assaulted. The woman was discovered naked and in distress on a road near the barracks shortly before 1 a.m. and was treated at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.

Prosecutors noted that Brown was allegedly staying at the barracks with a friend who is a state trooper at the time of the incident. During the arraignment, prosecutors also cited previous police reports involving harassment complaints filed by Brown’s former partners. Brown’s attorney maintains his client's innocence.
