Edward Buckingham completes 104-mile Cornwall ultramarathon
Mountaineer Edward Buckingham completed a 104-mile ultramarathon across Cornwall to raise funds for the East Cornwall Search and Rescue Team. Buckingham, who previously became the first Cornishman to climb the highest summit on each of the seven continents, finished the course in 36 hours and 50 minutes.
The route began in Looe, traveled north to Boscastle and Padstow, and then headed south through Fowey before returning to the starting point via the coast path. The challenge involved 13 support stops, two river crossings, and significant terrain changes.
Buckingham stated that his success was due to 12 months of planning and familiarity with the local area and weather. The funds raised will support the charity’s inland search and rescue services for missing or injured individuals in East Cornwall.
