Edward Furlong explains loss of Terminator 3 role

Actor Edward Furlong has revealed why he did not return to play the role of John Connor in ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’. Despite having played the character in ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’, Furlong lost the role due to a drug clause in his contract.

Furlong stated that his multi-million dollar contract for the third installment included a strict ‘no drugs’ clause, stipulating that any trace of drug use would result in immediate dismissal. He recounted that on the night before filming was set to begin, he chose to go out and consumed cocaine, an action that ultimately cost him the role. Nick Stahl subsequently took over the character in the 2003 film.
