Edward Furlong reflects on child stardom and sobriety

Edward Furlong, the actor known for his breakout role as John Connor in the 1991 film ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’, has reflected on the challenges of growing up in the public eye. In recent interviews, the 49-year-old actor discussed the difficulty of navigating mistakes while under constant scrutiny.

Furlong credited director James Cameron for providing a safe and professional environment during his early career, noting that he felt ‘spoiled rotten’ by the experience. He also praised the professionalism of co-stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton.

His career was later impacted by personal struggles, including addiction and legal issues. Furlong noted that these difficulties led to his removal from the 2003 film ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’. He has since addressed his past mistakes involving drugs and parties, stating that he has achieved seven years of sobriety as of 2025.
