Edwige Diaz elected as RN Senate group leader in France
Edwige Diaz, a prominent member of the Rassemblement National (RN), has been elected as a senator for Gironde and appointed to lead the party’s new group at the French Senate. Jordan Bardella announced her leadership role following an agreement among the newly elected senators, noting her significant local political growth in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
During the election celebrations at the Gironde prefecture, a physical confrontation occurred involving Diaz. Marie-Claude Noël, a former EELV official and former vice-president of Bordeaux Métropole, reportedly shoved Diaz. Following the incident, Diaz has filed a formal complaint against Noël. The altercation has intensified ongoing political debates regarding resistance and civil disobedience in response to the RN’s electoral gains.
