Edwin Cardona discusses 2018 World Cup exclusion and club loyalties

Colombian midfielder Edwin Cardona has shared details regarding his exclusion from the Colombia national team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. During an appearance on ‘The Juanpis Live Show’, Cardona described the moment he learned he would not be part of the squad. He stated that after being led to believe he was confirmed for the tournament, he had already arranged vacations with his family. He recounted receiving a call from an unknown number while driving, informing him that he would not be included in the final roster.

Cardona also addressed his professional career and club loyalties. A prominent supporter of Atlético Nacional, he stated that his devotion to the club prevents him from ever playing for rivals such as Independiente Medellín or Millonarios. He noted that while he has played for other Colombian clubs like Independiente Santa Fe, Junior, and América de Cali, his commitment to Nacional remains a defining factor in his career decisions.
