Edwin Encarnación files cross-complaints for attempted homicide

Former Major League Baseball player Edwin Encarnación and Kelvin Alexander Martínez Trinidad have filed cross-complaints for alleged attempted homicide following an incident near Casa de Campo on September 1.

Encarnación alleges that Martínez Trinidad and Gabriel Martínez Santana acted violently toward his vehicle, leading to a vehicular pursuit in which he fired shots. Encarnación is seeking RD$50 million in damages for his foundation. Conversely, Martínez Trinidad has filed a complaint against Encarnación, alleging an attempted homicide.

Both parties appeared before the La Romana Prosecutor's Office to address the legal actions. Former senator Enrique Martínez, father of Gabriel Martínez Santana, reported that a vehicle involved in the incident sustained five bullet impacts. The Ministry Public is currently investigating the circumstances of the confrontation, which occurred amidst Encarnación’s highly publicized divorce from television presenter Karen Yapoort, who is listed as a witness in the case.
