Edwin Guerrero sentenced to nearly 10 years for antisemitic threats against Rep. Randy Fine

Edwin Guerrero, a 26-year-old Massachusetts man, has been sentenced to nine years and 11 months in federal prison for making antisemitic death threats against Florida Representative Randy Fine and his children.

Between August 10 and 15, 2024, while traveling in Spain, Guerrero posted violent messages on social media targeting Fine, who was then a member of the Florida House of Representatives. The threats included claims that Fine would have his ‘brains blown in’ and that his two sons would ‘suffer the same fate,’ accompanied by graphic images of firearms and a deceased individual.

Investigators traced the posts to a Spanish IP address. Upon returning to the United States, Guerrero admitted to the threats. A search of his phone revealed additional antisemitic and anti-Israel content. U.S. District Judge Anne-Leigh Gaylord Moe determined the threats were motivated by hate, emphasizing the need to deter violence against elected officials and protected classes. In addition to his prison term, Guerrero was ordered to pay a $15,000 fine.
