Edwin Sifuna to launch Ukombozi People’s Party in October

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is preparing to launch the Ukombozi People’s Party (UPP) in early October, a move intended to provide a political platform for his 2027 presidential bid. The launch is tentatively proposed for October 3.

Leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement, including Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, indicated that the new party follows legal challenges regarding the registration of the Linda Mwananchi name. A court decision regarding the name dispute is expected on September 30.

The movement is also considering the formation of a Linda Mwananchi Movement coalition. This proposed umbrella group aims to unite various opposition parties to challenge President William Ruto in the upcoming general election.
