Edy Khemod debuts as director with film Operasi Pesta Copet

The film ‘Operasi Pesta Copet’ premiered in Indonesian cinemas on August 27, 2026. Directed by musician Edy Khemod in his feature film debut, the story follows four young people engaging in mass pickpocketing at the Pestapora music festival as a means of economic survival.

To achieve authenticity, the production team filmed directly during the 2025 Pestapora festival, utilizing approximately 500 extras and real festival lighting and bands. The film features a soundtrack including the song ‘Seribu Satu Macam’ by Rhoma Irama. The cast includes Iqbaal Ramadhan, Kristo Immanuel, Zulfa Maharani, and Kawai Labiba.

Edy Khemod, known as a drummer for the band Seringai, drew inspiration from observing pickpocketing syndicates at music concerts. The project, produced by Imajinari, Angin Segar, and Boss Creator, took approximately three years to complete.
