Eesti Post privatization: Estonia launches 52 million euro tender for Omniva

The Estonian government has announced a public written tender for the sale of 100 percent of the shares in Aktsiaselts Eesti Post, which operates under the Omniva brand. The starting price for the sale is set at 52 million euros, with a deadline for submitting bids on November 27.

Regional and Agriculture Minister Hendrik Johannes Terras stated that the privatization aims to reduce the state's business and investment risks while creating better conditions for attracting investment, improving service quality, and enhancing competitiveness. Terras emphasized that the state's role in postal services should be regulatory rather than through direct ownership. He noted that universal postal service requirements and obligations will remain guaranteed under the Postal Services Act even after the change in ownership.

Omniva has evolved from a traditional state postal service into an international logistics provider. In 2025, universal postal services accounted for only five percent of its 155 million euro turnover. The company serves clients across all three Baltic states and maintains a logistics network in more than ten countries.
