EET Retail to acquire SGN Retail in major UK forecourt expansion

EET Retail, the retail division of Essar Energy Transition Fuels, has agreed to acquire 100% of SGN Retail, a leading independent UK forecourt operator. The deal adds 118 high-quality locations to EET Retail’s existing estate of 117 sites, creating a nationwide network of 235 fuel forecourts with an annual throughput exceeding 650 million litres.

The acquisition is part of a strategic move to reintegrate the UK fuels supply chain by connecting fuel production directly with retail sales. By rerouting fuel refined at the Stanlow refinery in Cheshire directly into its forecourts, EET Retail aims to enhance domestic energy security and improve distribution efficiency.

While the transaction value has not been officially disclosed, industry estimates suggest SGN Retail could be worth approximately £400 million. The deal supports EET Retail’s long-term objective to expand its footprint to 800 forecourts, representing roughly 9% of the UK market, by 2031.
