EFAFLEX nominated for sustainability award for digital energy-saving tool
EFAFLEX, an industrial door manufacturer based in Bruckberg, Germany, has been nominated for the 2026 German Award for Sustainability Projects in the ‘Online Platform’ category. The nomination is for its digital tool, the ‘EFA-EnergySaver’.
Developed by Jan Hauffe and Rebecca Hofstätter-Griss, the web-based application allows architects, planners, and companies to calculate potential savings in energy, CO2 emissions, and costs. The tool compares standard industrial sectional doors with EFAFLEX high-speed doors by analyzing individual factors such as weather data, the frequency of daily door openings, and current energy prices.
The project was developed in collaboration with Berlin-based eigenmind GmbH and Etanomics Service GmbH, utilizing data from a 2013 study by the Technical University of Munich. EFAFLEX CEO Christopher Seysen noted that the tool demonstrates how technical expertise and customer orientation can contribute to increased sustainability.
