EFCC Chairman urges Nigerian teenagers to shun cybercrime

Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has urged Nigerian teenagers to reject cybercrime and instead pursue success through integrity and hard work.

Speaking at an event in Port Harcourt, Olukoyede highlighted various forms of internet fraud, including romance scams, identity theft, cryptocurrency scams, and fraudulent job offers. He noted that economic hardship and social media influence often drive young people toward these crimes.

Olukoyede warned that law enforcement agencies utilize digital forensics, financial intelligence, and international cooperation to track fraudulent activities, emphasizing that perpetrators cannot avoid detection. He also cautioned youth against comparing their lives to the perceived luxury displayed by others on social media.
