EFCC recovers N125m in land fraud and arrests impersonator
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully recovered N125 million for a victim of land fraud in Lagos. The victim, Akinsewa Akiode, had been defrauded by Olufemi Omoola Fashehun, who allegedly concealed a pending court case regarding a 550-square-metre parcel of land in Oregun. The EFCC recovered the funds and returned them to Akiode via Sterling Bank drafts.
In a separate incident, the EFCC's Maiduguri Zonal Directorate arrested Nuhu Dahiru for allegedly impersonating a commission operative. Dahiru is accused of using the false identity to obtain N3 million from members of the public. The recovered funds were seized upon his arrest, and investigations are ongoing prior to court charges.
