EFCC senior officer accused of corruption and unexplained wealth

A senior managerial officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), holding the rank of Assistant Commander (ACE), is facing allegations of extensive corruption, abuse of office, and unexplained wealth. The allegations were detailed in a six-page petition submitted on July 9, 2026, by the Network for Justice Association of Nigeria (NJAN).

The petition, signed by NJAN President Adedeji Sunday Ajala, lists 21 specific allegations against the officer. These include extortion, interference with investigations, unauthorized access to financial intelligence, and the acquisition of assets that appear inconsistent with the officer's reported monthly remuneration of between N800,000 and N900,000.

This development occurs as EFCC Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede has publicly advocated for a zero-tolerance policy regarding internal misconduct. The petition has been shared with several high-level authorities, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
