EFCC strengthens media ties and faces NANS call for lawful operations
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is expanding its efforts to combat economic crimes through media collaboration and public engagement. In Kano, the EFCC’s Zonal Director, Friday S. Ebelo, met with the leadership of Matashiya TV to reaffirm the importance of media partnerships in educating the public and deterring crimes such as cybercrime, money laundering, and corruption.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a statement regarding EFCC operations in Akure, Ondo State. While NANS expressed formal support for the Commission’s mandate to investigate and prosecute financial crimes, the association cautioned against the illegal abuse, harassment, or intimidation of students during law enforcement activities. NANS emphasized that while they support the fight against fraud, security agencies must ensure operations are conducted within the bounds of the law to ensure student safety.
