Efeler building evacuated after natural gas leak

A six-story apartment building in the Efeler district of Aydın was evacuated following a significant natural gas leak. The incident occurred on Batı Gazi Boulevard in the Meşrutiyet neighborhood when a 16-year-old resident attempted to light a stove on the fourth floor, causing a sudden flare-up due to accumulated gas.

Emergency services, including fire, police, and medical teams, responded to the scene. Two minors involved in the incident were evacuated by firefighters and underwent medical checks via ambulance. After detecting a heavy gas leak during inspections, authorities evacuated the entire building as a precaution.

Technical teams from the natural gas company, Enerya Gaz, arrived to conduct repairs and safety checks. Once the danger was mitigated and the area was deemed safe, residents were permitted to return to their homes. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
