Efes Ancient City Night Museum Attracts Over 213,000 Visitors
Turkey's UNESCO World Heritage site Efes (Ephesus) in Selçuk has become a flagship of the country's "Gece Müzeciliği" (Night Museum) program. In the latest summer season, 213,192 visitors toured the illuminated ruins after sunset, while July alone saw 156,528 guests.
Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy highlighted that the night‑museum concept, launched in 2024 at Efes, Side and Hierapolis, has expanded to 22 archaeological sites and museums nationwide. He projected that the program will host more than one million visitors across Turkey in 2025, aiming to present cultural heritage in a contemporary, sustainable format.
The initiative underscores Turkey's effort to boost cultural tourism and showcase its ancient monuments under special lighting, offering a distinct experience that blends history with modern museology.
