Effective household cleaning methods using percarbonate and pumice

Various household items can be used as effective cleaning agents for difficult stains and buildup. Sodium percarbonate, an active oxygen bleach composed of sodium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide, can be used to whiten laundry, remove sweat or sunscreen stains, clean granite sinks, and eliminate soap scum from showers. It is also effective for cleaning thermoses and silicone seals, though it should not be used on delicate materials like wool or silk.

Additionally, a pumice stone—commonly used for foot care—can serve as a mechanical cleaning tool for removing limescale, rust, or mold from toilet bowls, bathtubs, and sinks. For detailed cleaning in crevices, an old toothbrush or a small sponge can be used in conjunction with vinegar, baking soda, or toothpaste to achieve a polished finish.
