Effigy supernatural horror film completes production
Production has concluded on the Australian supernatural horror film ‘Effigy’, which has released its first look images. Directed by Myles McEwen and Ripley Stevens, the film is set in 1989 England and centers on the Marsh family, who experience a violent haunting after unearthing a mysterious effigy doll.
The story follows the family's struggle as an entity becomes fixated on their daughter, leading two paranormal investigators to examine the traumatic case. The film is described as having psychosexual undertones and exploring themes of depression, identity, and faith.
The cast includes South Australian actor Chris Gun, Lauren Koopowitz, David Daradan, and New Zealand actress Saya Kraetzer. Produced by Black Mandala Films, the project aims to capture the cinematic aesthetic of the late 1980s.
