Effiong Okon appointed CEO of Seplat Energy
Seplat Energy has appointed Effiong Okon as its new Chief Executive Officer. Okon, an engineer with over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, officially assumed the role on August 1 following board approval in June 2026.
Okon joined Seplat Energy in 2018 and has previously held several senior positions, including Executive Director of Operations, Director of New Energy, and Director of Projects. He also served as the Managing Director of ANOH Gas Processing Company Limited.
His mandate focuses on managing the company’s expanded asset base, overseeing core operations, and driving production targets. A primary strategic priority for Okon will be spearheading Seplat’s gas development strategy, which is central to the company’s long-term growth and energy transition goals within the Nigerian energy sector.
The appointment follows a period of leadership reorganization at Seplat, which included the earlier appointment of Tony Elumelu as Chairman. Okon is noted as the first person from Akwa Ibom State to lead the company.
