Efia Odo disputes economic excuses for Black Star Experience delay

Media personality Efia Odo has publicly challenged the reasoning behind the two-year delay of the Black Star Experience initiative in Ghana. The dispute follows comments by coordinator Rex Omar, who suggested that the country’s economic hardships have limited the public's ability to spend money on entertainment events like concerts or cinema visits.

Odo dismissed these claims, arguing that the economic climate should not be used as an excuse for the project's lack of progress. She stated that many Ghanaians continue to socialize and spend money on activities they prioritize, asserting that individuals are capable of making their own financial choices despite broader economic challenges.

Omar previously noted that the initiative did not receive a budgetary allocation for 2025, as the secretariat was established after the national budget had been finalized. Odo has called for greater accountability from those tasked with executing the initiative.
