efko considers potential role in saving Marchfeld vegetable production

The food producer efko has expressed willingness to participate in discussions regarding a potential solution for vegetable production in the Marchfeld region following the announced closure of the Ardo frozen vegetable plant. The closure threatens approximately 240 jobs and creates uncertainty for numerous local agricultural businesses that rely on regional processing capacities.

Thomas Krahofer, Managing Director of the efko Group, emphasized that the loss of reliable buyers endangers established value chains and decades of agricultural knowledge. While frozen vegetable processing has not historically been a strategic focus for efko, the company is open to exploring ways to support the region. However, no concrete commitments regarding the takeover of processing capacities or specific purchase volumes have been made at this time.
