EFÍMERA Film Festival debuts in Coyhaique, Chile

The first edition of EFÍMERA, an itinerant film festival titled ‘Festival de Cine Itinerante al Sur del Mundo’, is currently taking place in the Aysén region of Chile. Running from October 24 to 27, the event has seen higher than expected public participation.

A highlight of the festival included an outdoor screening at Plaza Angol in Coyhaique, which drew over 100 attendees. The event featured a discussion with filmmakers Coti Donoso and Katerina Harder, allowing the audience to engage directly with the creators.

The festival opened with the film ‘Kaye’, directed by Juan Cáceres. Cáceres, who attended the inauguration, emphasized that the festival serves as a community experience rather than just a series of screenings. In addition to film projections, the program includes educational workshops and masterclasses designed to bring cinema closer to local communities.
