EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board Chair Kerstin Lopatta resigns
Kerstin Lopatta has resigned as the Chair of the Sustainability Reporting Board at the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), stepping down only five months into her three-year term.
While EFRAG has not officially disclosed the reasons for her departure, media reports suggest the resignation may be linked to governance disputes. Specifically, reports indicate tensions between the board and technical expert groups regarding the distribution of responsibilities in defining reporting standards.
Georg Lanfermann, President of the Accounting Standards Committee of Germany, expressed regret over the resignation and called for a thorough review of the circumstances. He emphasized that such an investigation should be part of an urgent, broader governance reform within EFRAG.
Kristian Koktvedgaard has been appointed as the Acting Chair, effective immediately. Koktvedgaard has been a board member since 2022 and currently holds leadership roles at the Confederation of Danish Industries and the BusinessEurope Accounting Sounding Board. A permanent successor will be nominated by the European Commission following consultations with the European Parliament and the Council.
