Efteling's Danse Macabre attraction remains closed due to technical fault

The Danse Macabre attraction at Efteling theme park remains closed due to a persistent technical malfunction. The ride has been out of service since Monday, September 21, and is expected to remain closed through the upcoming weekend and Monday.

The park is currently targeting Tuesday, September 29, as a potential reopening date, though this remains subject to the progress of repairs. While the specific nature of the defect has not been disclosed, a large, white cylindrical component was recently removed from the construction beneath the turntable and transported away via truck.

Efteling is working with Intamin, a prototype attraction builder from Liechtenstein, to resolve the issue. The complexity of the repair is linked to the ride's advanced technology, which utilizes a ‘dynamic motion stage’—a moving platform capable of rising, falling, rotating, and tilting, supporting six smaller turntables. This malfunction occurs shortly before a previously postponed maintenance period, which is scheduled to run from October 26 to November 6.
