Egan Bernan​l dons green points jersey as Ineos Grenadiers finish second in Tour de France opening TTT

Team Ineos Grenadiers (Netcompany‑Ineos) started the 2024 Tour de France with a team time trial in Barcelona, finishing second, eight seconds behind Visma‑Lease a Bike. A puncture to Kevin Vauquelin forced a change in plan, and Filippo Ganna led the squad over the line.

Egan Bernal, the 2019 winner, was awarded the green points jersey after being the fastest rider through the first intermediate sprint, despite the team not earning points for the classification. "It’ll never go to plan," team director Geraint Thomas said, praising the riders' adaptation. Bernal commented that the green jersey was unexpected, noting, "This is a jersey I never thought I would wear."
