Ege Asfalt secures multi-billion lira tenders despite İBB investigation
Ege Asfalt, a company owned by Faruk Öndaş, has continued to secure multi-billion lira contracts from central government institutions despite being the subject of an investigation involving the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB).
In the İBB investigation, media outlets close to the government accused the company of involvement in a “phantom asphalt” scheme, alleging that while 600,000 tons of asphalt were reported as purchased, only 60,000 tons were actually laid. Despite these allegations and scrutiny of the company’s bank movements by the BDDK, Ege Asfalt has won several major tenders.
Recent contracts include a 2.3 billion TL agreement with the General Directorate of Highways for road superstructure renewal between Kınalı and Barbaros Port. Additionally, a partnership involving Ege Asfalt secured a 5.18 billion TL contract with the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) for a water transmission line project. The company also won a 4.09 billion TL tender for the Çamlıbel Tunnel and a 4.86 billion TL asphalt contract from the İBB itself.
