EGEAC workers in Lisbon demand 2026 salary negotiations
Workers of the Lisbon-based municipal company EGEAC (Empresa de Gestão de Equipamentos e Animação Cultural) have delivered a formal letter to the administration demanding negotiations for 2026 salary increases. The demand follows a protest held at the company's headquarters.
Nuno Almeida of the Lisbon Municipal Workers' Union (STML) stated that requests for meetings to continue the negotiation process have been refused by the board of directors since May. While the board applied salary increases similar to those in the public administration earlier this year, the union maintains that the negotiation process for 2026 remains unfinished.
The union expressed concern that the current updates, such as the 2.15% or 56 euro increase applied to the public administration, are insufficient to meet the rising cost of living. Workers have indicated they may pursue further industrial action or involve the Lisbon City Council if the administration continues to refuse dialogue.
