Eger hosts heating plant tours and historical castle commemorations

Eger will host several community events in mid-October, including educational programs at the Felsővárosi Heating Plant and historical commemorations at Eger Castle.

On October 16, EVAT Zrt. is opening the Felsővárosi Heating Plant for the Night of Power Plants and District Heating Day. The free event features guided tours to demonstrate how thermal energy reaches homes, alongside interactive science shows organized by the Observatory and Science Experience Center. These include physical and chemical experiment demonstrations designed for families and children.

On October 17, the city will commemorate the 474th anniversary of the 1552 defense of Eger Castle. The day's activities include the ceremonial handover of a restored Saint Stephen statue at the cathedral and the presentation of the ‘Dobó Sword’ award. The castle will offer free access to exhibitions, historical demonstrations by traditional groups, and guided tours to honor the victory of István Dobó and the castle defenders against Ottoman forces.
