Eger-patak stream investigated after white foam appearance
Authorities in Eger, Hungary, investigated an unusual white, foaming substance observed in the Eger-patak stream near the Klapka György Street bridge. The Heves County Disaster Management Directorate and the North Hungarian Water Directorate deployed a mobile laboratory to the site to conduct testing.
Preliminary results indicate that the pollution is minimal. Tests showed no significant acidic or alkaline chemical effects, and no damage to the stream's wildlife was detected. While the white substance caused visible discoloration in one concentrated area, experts noted that the impact on the ecosystem remains low. Water authorities continue to monitor the outflow of the connected drainage channel to ensure no further contamination enters the stream during heavy rainfall.
During the site inspection, officials also removed an electric scooter that had been discarded into the stream bed.
