Egloffstein man arrested after homemade pipe bomb discovery

A 38-year-old man has been placed in pre-trial detention following the discovery of homemade explosives in Egloffstein, Germany. The investigation began after an acquaintance reported finding a lit Molotov cocktail and a homemade firecracker near the man's residence.

Police officers from Ebermannstadt discovered a burnt patch of grass and a homemade pipe bomb at the scene. Subsequent searches of the suspect's apartment by the Bamberg Criminal Police and explosives experts from the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office led to the seizure of additional suspicious items.

A judge issued an arrest warrant on behalf of the Bamberg Public Prosecutor's Office on suspicion of multiple offenses related to explosives. Authorities noted that the suspect has no prior criminal record and there is currently no evidence suggesting involvement with extremist groups. Investigations are ongoing to determine the intended use of the materials.
