Italian swimmer Egor Tropeano sets Guinness World Record for one‑hour breaststroke

Egor Tropeano, a swimmer from Mendicino in the Italian region of Calabria, was officially entered into the Guinness World Records after swimming 4,245 metres using the breaststroke (frog style) in exactly one hour. The attempt took place on 19 February at an outdoor 25‑metre pool in Antalya, Turkey, where the water temperature was between 18 °C and 19 °C. Tropeano maintained a pace of about 1 minute 25 seconds per 100 metres, a speed that most swimmers would find demanding even in freestyle. International judges verified the performance before the record was ratified.

The achievement follows Tropeano’s previous success in ice‑swimming and world‑championship titles in the 50, 100 and 200 metre breaststroke events. He trains with his wife, former open‑water champion Bengisu Avci, and plans to attempt further improvements later in the year.
