Egypt sets 2026 secondary school exam schedule, appeal deadline and anti‑cheating rules

The Ministry of Education announced that appeals for the 2026 secondary school exam results must be submitted in paper form by 5 July, with a fee of 35 Egyptian pounds per subject. Applicants must present the request to the director of their educational administration and follow a prescribed procedure that includes reviewing the exam papers.

For the retake examinations of the national baccalaureate, strict anti‑cheating measures will be applied. An electronic system will scan exam halls to detect mobile devices, and personal bags are prohibited. Local anti‑cheating teams, one per ten halls, will supervise the process. The retake tests are scheduled for 2–4 July 2026 and will involve about 163 000 candidates, with results to be released on 11 July.

The Arabic language paper for the general secondary exam consists of 55 questions (51 multiple‑choice, 4 essay) worth 80 points; a score of 40 (50 %) is required to pass. Marks are allocated across grammar, texts, reading, functional writing, literature and story components.

The overall exam timetable for both the new and old curricula runs from 21 June to 16 July 2026, covering subjects such as religious education, foreign languages, chemistry, geography, physics, mathematics and biology. This year the exams will be organized into 613 large testing clusters comprising 2 032 sub‑committees, an expansion aimed at improving logistics and security.
