Egypt addiction fund receives 3,000 new volunteer applications

Dr. Amr Osman, Director of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Substance Abuse, announced that 3,000 new young men and women have applied to join the Fund's volunteer association. The applicants are primarily university students and graduates, with women making up 69% of the total applicants.

Selection involves interviews and tests to identify candidates with strong communication, teamwork, and field skills. Geographically, Assiut province led with 24% of applicants, followed by Kafr El-Sheikh (20%), Alexandria (18%), North Sinai (9%), and Minya (8%).

The Fund aims to train these volunteers to become leaders in voluntary work and increase their knowledge regarding drug demand reduction and prevention. Volunteers participate in developing prevention strategies and awareness activities. The total number of volunteers for the Fund has now exceeded 35,000 across Egypt. These individuals are also prepared to represent the Fund at local and international forums, such as the annual International Youth Forum on Drug Prevention held at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna.
