Egypt advances economic empowerment and disability inclusion initiatives
Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity is advancing initiatives focused on economic empowerment and social inclusion. Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, met with the Arab Businesswomen Council, led by Sheikha Dr. Hessa Al Sabah, to discuss humanitarian partnerships and women's economic empowerment. During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the Egyptian Red Crescent’s role in providing over one million tons of relief aid to the Gaza Strip since October 2023.
In a separate effort to promote inclusivity, the Ministry and the ‘Qaderoon Bekhtelaf’ Fund signed two cooperation protocols. One agreement with the Sawiris Foundation aims to expand economic, educational, and social opportunities for persons with disabilities, including their participation in ‘Diyaruna’ handicraft exhibitions.
A second protocol involving the Sawiris Foundation and the El Gouna Film Festival seeks to enhance accessibility and integration for persons with disabilities within the festival. This includes improving physical environments, digital platforms, and communication methods. These efforts aim to develop a national guide for inclusive cultural activities to assist organizers in implementing systematic accessibility standards.
