Egypt advances healthcare infrastructure with new hospital and facility inspections

Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population is advancing medical infrastructure through new facility openings and field inspections. The new Qena Hospital is expected to begin operations within 60 days. The facility spans 18,000 square meters, features seven levels including a basement, and has a capacity of 175 beds. It will include emergency services, intensive care units, operating rooms, and specialized departments for pediatrics and women's health, aiming to reduce pressure on Qena General Hospital and South Valley University hospitals.

In the New Valley Governorate, Deputy Minister of Health Amr Kandil conducted a two-day inspection of several medical facilities, including Al-Kharga Specialized Hospital and Al-Kharga Chest Hospital. The tour focused on evaluating the efficiency of outpatient clinics, emergency services, and intensive care units. The Deputy Minister emphasized adherence to infection control protocols and directed officials to increase surgical rates to better utilize available resources and reduce patient waiting times.
