Egypt advances precision technologies in health, agriculture and food production

Egypt is deploying a suite of precision technologies to boost productivity and sustainability across healthcare, agriculture and food manufacturing. The country's national genomics programme, announced by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, completed a whole‑genome sequencing study of 1,024 Egyptians, uncovering nearly 17 million new genetic variants and creating the first national genetic reference for more accurate disease prediction and personalized medicine.

Artificial intelligence is being integrated into medical imaging, digital pathology and predictive analytics to speed diagnosis and prioritize high‑risk patients, while robotic‑assisted surgery adds precision to operative care. In agriculture, vertical farming, smart irrigation and AI‑driven crop management aim to maximise yields, reduce water use and mitigate the challenges of water scarcity and rapid population growth.

These initiatives are presented as strategic economic assets intended to enhance Egypt’s long‑term competitiveness by using existing resources more efficiently rather than expanding resource consumption.
