Egypt and Armenia discuss environmental and local administration cooperation

Egypt's Minister of Local Development and Environment, Manal Awad, is participating in the Biodiversity Leaders Summit in Armenia, held as part of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17).

During her visit to Yerevan, Awad held bilateral meetings with Armenian officials, including the Minister of Regional Administration and Infrastructure and the Minister of Environment. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in local administration, urban development, waste management, and renewable energy.

Key environmental topics included the protection of natural reserves, biodiversity conservation, and the implementation of national strategies. The ministers also discussed the global goal to protect 30% of the world's areas by 2030 and the negotiations regarding the Cali Biodiversity Fund, a global financial mechanism designed to support the sharing of benefits from genetic resources.
