Egypt and Ghana seek sports cooperation and armwrestling development
The Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, Wael Fathy Ahmed, has called for enhanced cooperation between Ghana and Egypt to advance armwrestling, sports business, and sports tourism across Africa.
During a meeting with the leadership of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) at the High Commission in Accra, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral sports ties. Key objectives include athlete and technical exchanges, as well as the potential inclusion of armwrestling as a sports code in the 2027 African Games to be hosted in Egypt.
Ambassador Ahmed emphasized that sport serves as a vital platform for youth development and people-to-people engagement, noting the long and historic relationship between the two nations. Charles Osei Asibey, President of the GAF and the Africa Armwrestling Federation, indicated that the engagement aims to build strategic partnerships involving sports marketing, event management, and investment opportunities.
