Egypt and KOICA expand support for women-led small businesses
The National Council for Women (NCW) in Egypt, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is expanding efforts to support women-led small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
During an event titled ‘Three Years of Lessons, Achievements, and Prospects for Developing Women's SMEs (2024–2026)’, officials discussed enhancing women's economic participation and developing policies to expand entrepreneurship opportunities. NCW President Amal Ammar noted that the partnership with South Korea aims to build on previous successes to transform plans into tangible results, particularly following the elevation of Egypt-South Korea relations to a strategic partnership.
The cooperation, which has spanned six years, includes training programs designed to improve financial inclusion, market access, and leadership skills. Ambassador Wael El-Naggar, Assistant Foreign Minister for Cultural Affairs, emphasized that supporting women-led SMEs is a pillar of the Egyptian economy and aligns with the Egypt Vision 2030 goals for sustainable development.
