Egypt and Nigeria advance Sustainable Aviation Fuel projects

Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh Elhefny, inaugurated a two‑day workshop co‑organized with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and supported by the European Union to draft a feasibility study for domestic production and use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The initiative aligns with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the global CORSIA emissions framework, aiming to create a national roadmap for SAF integration.

In Nigeria, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, launched the National High‑Level SAF Steering Committee, presented a national SAF feasibility study, and started an ICAO‑backed Sustainable Aviation Fuel Business Implementation Study. The programme seeks to position Nigeria as Africa's SAF hub, leveraging abundant cassava and other agricultural feedstocks, refining capacity, and strategic location to stimulate investment, jobs, and energy security.
