Egypt and Saudi Arabia urge maritime security in Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab

Egypt and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized that the security of these vital maritime routes is a shared responsibility for neighboring Arab and African nations, noting their critical role in global food and energy supply chains.

In diplomatic communications, Abdelatty expressed full support for Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and security. He also called for regional de-escalation regarding tensions with Iran to prevent a broader conflict. Discussions with various regional leaders, including those from Qatar and the UAE, focused on finding political and diplomatic solutions to ongoing crises, particularly in Yemen.

Separately, the Saudi Arabian Cabinet, chaired by the Crown Prince, underscored the necessity of protecting maritime freedom not only in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab but also in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Aden. These efforts aim to bolster regional stability and international security through diplomatic channels.
