Egypt and Singapore discuss strengthening investment and trade ties

Egyptian Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh and Singaporean Ambassador to Egypt Dominic Goh met to discuss expanding mutual investments and strengthening bilateral trade ties. The discussions focused on encouraging Singaporean companies to expand their presence in Egypt and attracting new investments into key industrial and productive sectors.

A primary objective is to position Egypt as a strategic production and shipping hub. By leveraging its geographic location and existing trade agreements with Arab, African, and European markets, Egypt aims to facilitate international market access for Singaporean businesses. Conversely, officials discussed ways to increase Egyptian exports to Singapore by identifying competitive products and easing market entry.

The partnership also includes knowledge sharing, with Egypt seeking to adopt Singaporean expertise in financial center management, digital transformation, logistics, and supply chain management. Potential cooperation areas include the development of industrial zones, distribution centers, and initiatives regarding carbon certification and sustainability.
