Egypt and Turkey discuss agricultural cooperation and trade

Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, met with a high-level Turkish delegation led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ahmed Bağcı, to discuss enhancing agricultural cooperation and increasing bilateral trade. The discussions focused on technical licensing, the registration of fertilizer and plant nutrition companies, and supporting joint investments to ensure the flow of production supplies.

The meeting highlighted a trade balance of approximately $6.8 billion in 2025. Egyptian agricultural exports to Turkey are growing, particularly dates, which reached $27.2 million, making Turkey the third-largest destination for Egyptian dates. Other key exports include corn, rice, onions, white beans, and strawberries.

Both nations agreed to strengthen scientific and research partnerships, including the exchange of modern technologies and expertise through the Agricultural Research Center. Additionally, officials and business investors met to discuss overcoming trade obstacles and expanding partnerships in agricultural manufacturing, modern irrigation techniques, and seed production.
