Egypt rolls out 2026 university admission rules and capacity‑test registrations

The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that up to 40,000 high‑school graduates have registered on the electronic coordination platform to sit the mandatory capacity‑tests for university admission in 2026. Students may book seats for multiple colleges and specialties, provided they pay the fee for each test, and the system prevents retaking a test for the same college if a candidate fails.

Official lists of accredited public, private and independent universities were published to protect applicants from fraudulent institutions. The lists detail 28 public, 37 private and 32 independent universities approved for the 2026 coordination.

A ministerial decree also set the allocation of the 1,500 top‑scoring secondary‑school students (500 each in science, maths and humanities) across the country, exempting them from geographic placement rules and tuition fees for public programmes. Additional admission criteria, such as a minimum score of 225 for Cairo’s public secondary schools, were released.
